Profile

Aditya Pradana Setiadi obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Sociology from the University of Indonesia in 2008. Later, he was awarded a full scholarship from Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education to pursue a Master of Music (M.Mus.) in Musicology at King’s College London, graduated with Distinction (Magna Cum Laude) in January 2017. For his master’s dissertation entitled Politics of Voice: The Rise and Fall of the Indonesian Art Song, he worked under supervision of Dr Katherine Butler-Schofield, in which he critically examined the changing relationship over time between Indonesian state cultural policy, social class, and music in the postcolonial era.

Besides his academic attainments, Mr Setiadi is also a pianist. He studied piano under Prof Iravati Mangunkusumo-Sudiarso and obtained his teaching diploma from the YPM Music School, Jakarta in 2006. He won a scholarship from the Hungarian Scholarship Board to study music pedagogy at the Faculty of Music, University of Debrecen (worth 12 ECTS) and graduated with Honours (2010). Pursuing the mastery of German lieder's pianistic aesthetics, he studied Sommerakademie: Lied für sänger und pianisten under Prof Norman Shetler at the respected Universität Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria (2013). In terms of concerts, he has collaborated with prominent figures of classical music, namely Avip Priatna, Aning Katamsi, Catharina Leimena, and Iskandar Widjaja.

Mr Setiadi has been teaching at the University of Indonesia since 2009. He performed a leading role in constituting the syllabus for one of the university’s liberal arts courses, Music Appreciation, and has been running the programme at the undergraduate level. His role as one of the researchers at the music committee of the Jakarta Arts Council manifested in the publication of Anthology of Indonesian Classical Music, Volume I: Indonesian Art Song “Seriosa” (2013).
