Dr. Amarila Malik, Apt., M.Si
Prof. Dr. Amarila Malik's major research interests are microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, and pharmacogenomic/pharmacogenetic, as reflected in her publications.
Prof. Amarila completed her Bachelor degree on Pharmacy and professional Pharmacist from Universitas Indonesia (1989), master degree on Pharmacy (natural product pharmacy) from Bandung Institute of Technology (1993) and doctoral degree on Biology (microbiology) from Bogor Agriculture University (2000). She took the role as postdoctoral research associate of molecular biology research at the Department of Biological Sciences, Oakland University, Michigan, USA (2003) and postdoctoral research fellow of microbiology and molecular genetics research at the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, The University of Texas-Health Science Center at Houston, Houston, Texas, USA (2004). Several other research training, visits and collaborations have been conducted with scientists from around the world, i.e. the United Kingdom (SAC-University of Edinburgh, Scotland), the Netherlands (Rijks-universiteit Groningen-RuG, Groningen), Japan (Nara Institute of Science and Technology-NAIST, Nara), New Zealand (University of Otago, Dunedin) and Vietnam (Vietnam National University-VNU/Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology-IMBT, Hanoi). She obtained many research grants from Indonesia and abroad. In 2010, she won the most prestigious research awards in Indonesia, Ristek Kalbe Science Award (RKSA) as the Best Research Award winner.
