Asra Virgianita, S.Sos., M.A
Asra Virgianita was born on 20 September 1974 in Makassar, South Sulawesi. For her educational background, she receive her undergraduate degree of International Relations studies from the Department of International Relations, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the University of Indonesia in February 1998. Ms. Virgianita received master degree of International Studies from the Graduate School of International Studies, the Meijigakuin University, Yokohama, Japan in March 2004. She is now still finishing post-graduate degree of International Studies at the Meijigakuin University, Yokohama, Japan, since 2007. In April 2001-March 2002 she also received research scholarhsip to research at the Meijigakuin University, Yokohama, Japan from the JICA Scholarships. In fact, Ms. Virgianita's studies of graduate to post-graduate degree are also funded by the JICA Scholarships.
Ms. Virgianita's teaching and research experience started in 1997 when she was an assistance lecturer until 1998 at the Department of International Relations, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the University of Indonesia. Meanwhile, she started to be a lecturer since 1999 when she became a lecturer in the subject of international political economy and international politcs at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences, Budi Luhur, Jakarta, Indonesia. She was actually teach as a lecturer at the University of Indonesia in 2005 when she taught international relations in East Asia at the Department of International Relations, the University of Indonesia. She became a permanent staff of the University of Indonesia since 2006 as a lecturer. Ms. Virgianita's research experience started in 1997 when she was an research assistant in the topic of the Japan's ODA to Indonesia, a joint project between the Institute of Social Sciences the University of Tokyo and the Center for Japanese Studies of the University of Indonesia, sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In 2005-2008 she did research in the topic of the Economic and Political Development in Japan and Indonesia, a joint research project between the Institute of Social Sciences and the Institute of Oriental Culture (both institutes from the University of Tokyo, Japan) and the Center for Japanese Studies the University of Indonesia, funded by the JICA. In September 2008-September 2009 she did an individual research in the topic of the International Democracy Assistance to Domestic Election Monitoring Organizations (DMOs): A Case of Indonesia, funded by the Matsushita Foundation (Panasonic Group).
Ms. Virgianita also publish and release some articles, and working papers, as well as does some research projects (see publication and research).
