Bagus Aryo, S.Sos, MSocWk, PhD

 

Bagus Aryo is a Doctor of Microfinance (Poverty Alleviation) at the Social Welfare Department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI). He graduated with a BA (Hons) in Social Welfare from UI. He gained a Master of Social Work with specialty (majoring) in Social Policy and Community (Economic) Development from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He hold a PhD Arts in Microfinance (Political Economy/Poverty Alleviation stream) from the School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Melbourne, Australia. His PhD research was on The Politics of Microfinance: Is there any hidden agenda? A case study of BMT Kube Sejahtera, Indonesia. His current main teaching and research area includes Local Economy and Poverty Alleviation, Microfinance, Social Policy & Planning, Social Problems Analysis, and Disaster Management. Bagus Aryo, PhD is a member of Association of Social Work Education (APASWE), Association for Social Economics (ASE), Social Performance Management Network (SPM Network), Ikatan Pendidikan Pekerjaan Sosial Indonesia (IPPSI), Sociology Economy (Australia), Task Force of AsiaEngage (is a regional platform formed to maximise the strengths of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Thematic Network on University Social Responsibility and Sustainability (AUN-USR&S), the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Program (AYVP) and the Asia-Talloires Network of Industry Community Engaged Universities (ATNEU).  

 

His international experiences include a study of ‘Vulnerability Assessment using Participative Method’ in Timor Leste (13 Districts/Nationwide), funded by International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Cruz Vermelha de Timor Leste (CVTL)/East Timor Red Cross, consultant of strategic planning for Cruz Vermelha de Timor Leste (CVTL)/East Timor Red Cross and a study of Corporate Social Responsibility in Australia funded by Brotherhood of StLaurence (Melbourne, Australia). Beside that, he also presented many paper at International conference/seminar in Indonesia, Asia, Australia and UK. Reading, travelling and playing with his children are his hobbies.

 

Research interest: Microfinance, Social Policy, Corporate & University Social Responsibility, Disaster Risk Reduction and Social Problems.
