Edy Prasetyono is one of permanent lecturer at Department of International Relations Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Indonesia. He was born in Jombang, East Java, on 21 March 1964. His interest of academic expertise is in defence and security issues. Mr. Prasetyono's Professional Educational Background starts when he was graduated from Political Sciences in program study of International Relations Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Indonesia in 1989. Then, he graduated from University of Birmingham the United Kingdom getting Master of Sciences in Security Studies in 1994. In 1995, he followed short course in National Security Studies at Kiel University Germany. In 1995 also, he followed the Symposium on East Asian Security Studies at US-Pacific Command Hawaii in the United States of America. In 2001 he got post-graduate degree from University of Birmingham the United Kingdom in Security Studies. He also attended training program in the United States Institute for Peace, Hanoi, Vietnam.

Despite lecturing at Department of International Relations Studies University of Indonesia since 1995, Mr. Prasetyono has several working experiences. During 1990-2008 he was working as researcher at Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Jakarta Indonesia. In 1991, he was working as visiting fellow at Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) Tokyo Japan. He was working also as visiting fellow in 1993 at Australian Defence Studies Center, Australian Defence Force Academy, University of New South Wales Canberra Australia. Since 1992/1993 until present he is working as guest lecturer at SESKO Angkatan Udara (SESKO-AU) the Republic of Indonesia. Since 1994/1995 he is also working as guset lecturer at SESKO Tentara Nasional Indonesia (SESKO-TNI) dan SESKO Angkatan Laut (SESKO-AL). During 1994/1995-2007 he was working as a member council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP). During 1999-2001 he was working as Editoral Board the Journal of Contemporary Security Policy. Frank Cass, London, the United Kingdom. During 2001-2007 he was working as the Head of Department of International Relations at Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Jakarta Indonesia. Since 2002 he is working as a member of Indonesian Working Group on Security Sector Reform, Propatria, to formulate plan for the National Security Act. In 2002, he was working as a member of working group Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI) jointly with SESKO-TNI to formulate Milatary (TNI)'s Doctrin. In 2003/2004 he was working in the working group to formulate Buku Putih Pertahanan Department of Defense the Republic of Indonesia.In 2003/2004 and 2007/2008 he was working as a member on working group to make Defence Review (SDR) at Department of Defence the Republic of Indonesia. In 2003/2004 he was working as a member on working group to formulate Military's Act Department of Defence the Republic of Indonesia. In 2005/2006 he was the Head of Intelligence Reform Working Group, PACIVIS Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Indonesia. In 2008 he was working as a member of working group on "Restructuring Military Business" at Indonesian Institute. In 2006 he was the Head of Research Team on "Indonesia's Defence in the 21st Century". In 2007 he was a lecturer at Sekolah Strategi Perang Semesta SESKOAD Bandung West Java Indonesia. He is also giving some public lecturer at seminar and discussion mainly at Lembaga Pertahanan Nasional (Lemhanas or the Insitute of National Defence), Department of Defence the Republic of Indonesia, and Department of Foreign Affairs the Republic of Indonesia.

In 2003 Mr. Prasetyono was given an appreciation "Satya Lencana Dwidya Sistha" from the Headquarter of Naval Army the Republic of Indonesia. In 2004 he was also given an appreciation "Satya Lencana Dwidya Sistha" from the Headquarter of Indonesia National Army.

Mr. Prasetyono also publish and release some articles, books, and seminar papers as well as does research works (see publication and research).
