Vishnu Juwono is a lecturer in Public Administration and a researcher both in Collaborative Governance and Dynamic Public Service (CG-DPS) and Politics of Taxation, Welfare and National Resilience (PolTax) research cluster at the Faculty of Administrative Science at University of Indonesia (FIA UI). He has been a Coordinator for International Cooperation in FIA UI since July 2017. Previously, he was appointed as an Assistant Manager for Research, Publication and Public Service at FIA UI in December 2016 - July 2017.

He got his Doctoral of Philosophy degree (PhD) from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE), London, the United Kingdom, in September 2016 with a full scholarship from the Jardine Foundation, Hong Kong. His PhD thesis is on a political history of governance reform and anti-corruption initiatives in Indonesia, 1945 - 2014.

During his PhD study in London, he was also working as a journalist as a correspondent in the United Kingdom in October 2011 - February 2016 for Indonesia leading print and on-line media: Koran Tempo Newspaper, Tempo Weekly Magazine, and Tempo.co. He was covering among others: world sporting event the Olympics 2012 in London, the state visit by President of Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to the Queen of the United Kingdom Queen Elizabeth II in 2012 and the working visit to the United Kingdom by Vice President of Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla in 2015.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree (Sarjana Ekonomi) from the Faculty of Economics, the University of Indonesia (FEUI) in 1999. After graduated, he joined the State-owned Enterprise Danareksa Investment Management and worked in the Institutional Business Development Division for two years.

He also received a Master of International Affairs (M.I.A.) degree in 2003, with a concentration in International Finance and Business from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University, New York. He had his initial international relations practical experience for one year when he was working for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the Executive Director of Southeast Asia Office in Washington D.C. In 2005 he went back to Indonesia and joined the World Bank Office Jakarta as Governance Consultant for three years.

In October 2008 he pursued the post-graduate program in Diplomatic Studies at Queen Elizabeth House (QEH) and Trinity College, Oxford University, the United Kingdom. At the same time, he was also involved as Research Associate on Good Governance at Paramadina University, Jakarta. He went back to his alma mater in August 2009 and was appointed as the Head of Communications at University of Indonesia (U.I.). Within the same university, he was an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Criminology and Department of International Relations in the Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) in 2009 - 2011.

He conducted his doctoral research in LSE as Visiting Fellow in Centre for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), Jakarta, in October 2013 - December 2013, Visiting Affiliate in the Asia Research Institute (ARI), the National University of Singapore, Singapore, in January 2014 - March 2014 and Visiting Fellow in the Department of Political and Social Change (PSC) at the Australian National University (ANU) in September 2014.

He has written numerous articles that were published in various leading national newspapers such as: Kompas newspaper, Seputar Indonesia newspaper, Media Indonesia newspaper, Suara Pembaruan newspaper, Sinar Harapan newspaper, Kontan newspaper, and Tempo newspaper. With Soren Davidsen and David G. Timberman he co-authored a book entitled “Curbing Corruption in Indonesia, 2004-2006: A Survey of National Approaches” which was co-published by USINDO and CSIS Jakarta in 2006. He is also co-author with Sebastian Eckardt of a chapter called “Budget Accountability and Legislative Oversight in Transition: The Case of Post-Soeharto Indonesia” in the World Bank Institute’s publication Legislative Oversight and Budgeting: a World Perspective, edited by Rick Stapenhurst and Co. that was published in 2008.

He has delivered an academic presentation in a number of the world leading research institutes, universities and international conferences such as: the Chatham House (London, U.K); the Asia Research Institute, the National University of Singapore (Singapore); University of Oxford (Oxford, U.K.); University of Cambridge (Cambridge, U.K.); Columbia University (New York, U.S.); the Asian Association for Public Administration Annual Conference, 2014 (Cebu, Philippines); the World Conference for Public Administration (WCPA), 2014 (Daegu, Republic of Korea); the Public Management Research Conference (PMRC), 2014, Seoul National University (Seoul, Republic of Korea); International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASA) Conference 2015, 6 – 10 July 2015 (Paris, France); the European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) Annual Conference 2015, 24 – 29 August 2015 (Toulouse, France); the 111th American Political Science Association (APSA) Annual Meeting, 3- 6 September 2015 (San Francisco, U.S.); and the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) in Asia Annual Conference 2016, 24 - 27 June 2016, Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan).

Research Interests: politics of public policy, public administration, Indonesia politics, civil service reform, public sector reform, anti-corruption initiatives, political economy, parliamentary reform and public communication.

Vishnu Juwono adalah Dosen tetap Administrasi Publik serta peneliti di dua klaster riset yakni Collaborative Governance and Dynamic Public Services (CG-DPS) serta Politics of Taxation, Welfare and National Resilience (PolTax) di Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi Universitas Indonesia (FIA UI). Sebelumnya ia ditugaskan sebagai Asisten Manajer di bidang Riset, Publikasi dan Pelayanan Masyarakat di FIA UI pada Desember 2016 - Juli 2017.

Ia menyelesaikan studi S3 dengan memperoleh gelar Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) dari London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London, Inggris Raya, pada bulan September 2016 dengan beasiswa penuh dari the Jardine Foundation, Hong Kong. Thesis doktoralnya mengenai sejarah politik dari Reformasi Tata Kelola dan Inisiatif Anti Korupsi di Indonesia pada tahun 1945 - 2014.

Selama kuliah S3 di London ia juga bekerja sebagai wartawan dengan menjadi koresponden untuk Inggris Raya bagi Majalah Tempo, Koran Tempo dan Tempo.co pada bulan September 2011 - Februari 2016. Hasil liputannya antara lain peristiwa olah raga dunia Olimpiade 2012 di London, Kunjungan Kenegaraan Presiden Republik Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ke Ratu Inggris Raya Elizabeth II tahun 2012 dan Kunjungan Kerja ke Inggris dari Wakil Presiden Republik Indonesia Jusuf Kalla tahun 2015.

Pada tahun 1999 menyelesaikan studi S1 di Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Indonesia (FEUI) dengan memperoleh gelar Sarjana Ekonomi (SE) di bidang Manajemen tahun 1999. Setelah lulus kuliah, ia langsung bekerja di PT. Danareksa Investment Management selama dua tahun di bagian Institutional Business Development.

Ia menyelesaikan program Master of International Affairs (MIA) dari School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA ), Columbia University, New York, Amerika Serikat pada tahun 2003. Setelah itu ia bekerja sebagai staf di kantor Executive Director for Southeast Asia Office, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington, DC, Amerika Serikat selama satu tahun hingga 2005.

Setelah kembali Ke Indonesia ia bekerja sebagai Governance Consultant di Kantor Bank Dunia di Jakarta karena tertarik pada isu-isu pembangunan, terutama masalah korupsi dan tata kelola pemerintahan. Kemudian pada bulan Oktober 2008 mengambil progam pasca sarjana dibidang Diplomatic Studies di Trinity College and Queens Elizabeth House (QEH), University of Oxford, Inggris Raya. Selain itu, bekerja sebagai Research Associate untuk Good Governance di Universitas Paramadina. Setelah menyelesaikan studinya di Inggris, sejak Agustus 2009 ia kembali ke alma maternya dan bekerja sebagai Kepala Kantor Komunikasi Universitas Indonesia. Selain itu juga bekerja sebagai dosen tamu di Departemen Kriminologi dan Hubungan Internasional, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Indonesia (FISIP UI).

Dalam melaksanakan riset doktoral di LSE ia menjadi Visiting Fellow di Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Jakarta, pada bulan Oktober 2013 - Desember 2013, sebagai Visiting Affiliate di the Asia Research Institute, the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapura, pada bulan Januari 2014 - Maret 2014 dan Visiting Fellow pada bulan September 2014 di Departemen Politik dan Perubahan Sosial di the Australian National University (ANU).

Ia telah menulis artikel di beberapa harian nasional terkemuka seperti: Kompas , Seputar Indonesia , Media Indonesia , Suara Pembaruan , Sinar Harapan , Kontan and Tempo . Bersama David G. Timberman and Soren Davidsen menulis buku, "Curbing Corruption in Indonesia, 2004-2006: A Survey of National Approaches" dipublikasikan oleh USINDO dan CSIS pada tahun 2006. Selain itu bersama Sebastian Eckardt menulis sebuah bab yang berjudul "Budget Accountability and Legislative Oversight in Transition: The Case of Post-Suharto Indonesia" di publikasi yang berjudul "Legislative Oversight and Budgeting: A World Perspective" dengan editor Rick Stapenhurst dan kawan-kawan diterbitkan tahun 2008.
