Andi Widjajanto is one permanent lecturer at Department of International Relations Studies Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia, teaching Strategic Studies modules for undergraduate and post-graduate study programmes. Mr. Widjajanto's Professional Educational Background starts from receiving Bachelor of Arts from International Relations Studies at Department of International Relations Studies Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Indonesia in 1996. In 1997 he got graduate degree from School of Oriental and African Studies Universy of London. Master of Sciences both he got from London School of Economics and Political Sciences University of London the United Kingdom in 1998 and from Industrial College of Armed Forces National Defense University Washington D.C. the United States of America in 2003.

Despite lecturing at the department since April 2000 until present, Mr. Widjajanto also has several working experiencesIn September 1998-April 2000 he was working as Coordinator of the Non-Alignment Movement Study Center to be responsible in conducting workshops and seminars at the Non-Alignment Movement Study Center, University of Indonesia. In April 2000-February 2004 he was working as Head of Research Division, responsible in conducting research projects at the Center for International Relations Studies University of Indonesia. He was working as Board of Editors of the journal of international politics Global at International Relations Studies Department University of Indonesia in April 2000-August 2007. He was working as Managing Director at PACIVIS, the Center for Global Civil Society Studies University of Indonesia. In May 2004-April 2007 he was working as Executive Director at PACIVIS while at present since May 2007 he is working as Adviser of SSR Programme. At present also since August 2008 he is working as Director of Defense Economics at the Institute of Defense and Security Studies.

Mr. Widjajanto also has several epistemic community involvements. In 2000 he became a member of Indonesia’s Delegation  in “the ASEAN plus Three Young Leaders’ Forum” to present an academic paper “The Positive Peace for East Asia”. In 2001 he became a member of Indonesia Delegation  in “the 1st ASEAN People Assembly” to creat a network between ASEAN’s civil society organizations. In 2001 also, he became a member of Indonesia’s Delegation in “the 4th ASEAN University Network Forum” to present an academic paper “the Establishment of ASEAN’s Security Community”. In 2002 he became a member of Task Force, organized  by Indonesia’s Science Institute (LIPI), under co-operation with Indonesia’s Military College (SESKO TNI) to review Indonesia's Military Doctrin. He became a member of Task Force, organized by Local Government Studies (LOGOS), under co-operation  with Armed Forces Territorial Chief of Staff (KASTER TNI) to modify Indonesia's Territorial Command during 2001-2002.He became a member of National Security Task Force, organized by Pro Patria to formulate National Police Bill, Defense Bill, Armed Forces Bill, and Strategic Defense Review during 2001-2002. During those years also, Mr. Widjajanto was becoming a researcher at the Research Institutes For Democracy and Peace (RIDEP) to analyse and publisharticles on current security dynamics in South-east Asia. He then again became a member of Indonesia’s Working Group on Security Sector Reform, organized by Pro Patria to review Indonesia's National Security Strategy in 2003-2006. During 2005-2006 he was becoming a member on Indonesia’s Working Group on Military Business Restructuring, organized by the Indonesia Institute. to formulate policy recommendation for restructuring military business in Indonesia. He became a project Coordinator and Facilitator of Indonesia’s Working Group on Intelligence Reform, organized by PACIVIS during 2005-2006 to formulate Draft Bill on National Intelligence. During 2005-2008 he became a lecturer at SESKO TNI (Military Staff and Command College) to conduct Defense Posture and Strategic Leaderships Modules.

In 2006, Mr. Widjajanto became a member of Research Team on “National Defense System Project” organized by Badan Pembinaan Hukum Nasional, Departemen Hukum dan Perundang-undangan to review Indonesia's National Defense System. In that year also, he became a member of Indonesia’s Delegation in “the 3rd Malaysia-Indonesia Colluqioum”, organized by ISIS-Malaysia and CSIS-Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 17-20 July 2006 to formulate policy recommendation on enhancing Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral relations. He (again) became a member of Indonesia’s Working Group on Security Sector Reform, organized by Pro Patria to formulate the National Security Bill during 2006-2007. During those years he became a member of DoD Task Force for Strategic Defense Review 2006-2007 to formulate Strategic Defense Review 2007. In 2007 he became a member of Research Team on “The Politics of National Security Policy” organized by Badan Pembinaan Hukum Nasional, Departemen Hukum dan Perundang-undangan to formulate policy recommendation for establishing Indonesia’s national security system; lecturer at Sekolah Strategi Perang Semesta, SESKOAD (Army Command and Staff College) to coordinate a a lecture on Indonesia’s Defense Posture Modules; and a member of DoD Task Force for Defense White Paper 2007 to formulate Indonesia's Defense White Paper 2007. Finally, in 2008 he became a member on Indonesia’s Working Group on Military Business Restructuring, organized by the Indonesia Institute to formulate policy recommendation for restructuring military business in Indonesia; and steering commitee of National Seminar on the National Defense System for 21st Century, organized by SESKOAD, TNI-AD to formulate policy recommendation on national defense system for 21st century.

Mr. Widjajanto is also releasing and publishing some articles, books, and seminar papers as well as conducting some research projects (see the publication and research).
