Imam Budidarmawan Prasodjo, Ph. D

            Imam B. Prasodjo was born in Purwokerto, February, 15, 1960. He graduated from Sociology, University of Indonesia, Jakarta. His thesis titled: The Modernity of Religious Perceptions Among Muslim Students: A Comparative Study in Three Religious Environments in 1986. Then he obtained his master degree in 1990 from Sociology, KansasStateUniversity, Manhattan, Kansas, USA. Major:  Social Change/Development Studies, by writing thesis titled: Structural Determinants of Urbanization in Developing Countries: A Cross-National Study. In 1997 hi got his Ph.D degree from Sociology, BrownUniversity, Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Major:  Social Demography/Urban Studies by thesis titled: The Effect of Population Mobility on the Risk of Infant Death: The Indonesian Experience. Besides his activity as teaching staff at Sociology Department, the Faculty of Social and Political Science, University of Indonesia, Jakarta., he was also active in writing, there are some of  them:

1.      “Aceh at the Cross-Roads,”paper presented at the opening plenary session of the 100^th Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association (ASA) in Philadelphia, USA, August 12, 2005.

2.      (with Ann Shoemake) “Building Responsive Communities: An Alternative Approach for Aceh Recovery,” paper presented at the Private Sector Summit on Post-Tsunami Reconstruction and Rehabilitarion, in Washington D.C., Thursday, May 12, 2005.

3.      “Connecting People’s Hearts: Rebuilding Trust and Hopes in Indonesia” paper presented at ASAIHL General Conference on the Role of University in the Peace Education in Manila, 25-27 November 2004. This paper is a revised version of the paper presented at the International Workshop on “Evolving Concepts of Peacebuilding” at the United Nations Unversity Center, Tokyo, 3-4 August 2004.
