Lugina Setyawati was born in Jakarta 24th November 1962. She graduated in Sociology from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia. She earned her master degree in Arts in 1999 from the school of Political and Social Inquiry majoring in anthropology and sociology, Monash university Australia, and achieved doctorate degree in politics and anthropology from the school of political and social inquiry, Monash university.
She is a full time lecturer in Department of Sociology in University of Indonesia and her fields of teaching are introduction to sociology, the social system of Indonesia, the social impact of development, sociology of gender, women’s role in development, inter-groups relation, and sociology of health.
Some of her research experiences are research on “Assessment of the Implementation of government policy on minimum standard salary among women workers” in 2000, and “women’s status and position in interfaith conflicts in Indonesia”
