Nurul Isnaeni is a lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the University of Indonesia. Ms. Isnaeni was born in Jakarta, March 13rd 1969. She received her bachelor degree of international relations studies from the University of Indonesia. Her master degree of Foreign Affairs received from the University of Monash, Victoria, Australia in 1999-2000. She was also awarded for the Australian Development Scholarship in the same year to complete her master degree. She is now still continuing to study post-doctorate degree at Asia-Europe Institute, the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is interested in some areas of issues such as environmental policy and diplomacy, dan ASEAN integration and community, particularly related to social-politcial issues.

Ms. Isnaeni was also responsible for the position of the head of undergraduate program at the Department of International Relations the University of Indonesia despite her professional working experience as a lecturer in the periodic time of 2004-2008. In 2001-2004 she was also mandated to hold the position of the academic secretary of undergaduate program at the Department of International Relations Studies. Her professional working experiences is not only in the area of undegraduate programme but also in teaching graduate programme of international relations studies. Besides teaching, Ms. Isnaeni is also actively doing research to become associate researcher at the Center for International Relations Studies (CIReS) the University of Indonesia and also conducting research as well as assisting research management. She was also being executive secretary of the Center for Japanese Studies, the University of Indonesia, as well as research assistant at the center. It was a trendemous experience of her professional activity because at that time the Center for Japanese Studies had just firstly been established in Indonesia. She conducted the center with Mr. Alm. Dr. Hero Kuntjoro Jakti (the first executive director of the center).

In training and non-formal education experiences, Ms. Isnaeni is likely to be involved in area of environment and development issues. She was awarded to participate international training program on Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) held jointly by LEAD Institute and the Rockefeller Foundation in Zimbabwe (1998) and the same program in Costa Rica (1996). After the two trainings, she joined the LEAD fellows focusing in the issue of sustainable development. In 2002 she was one of the participants for Asian Conference on Religion and Peace held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In the same year, she also participated summer school program on "The United Nations, Civil Society, and the Private Sector: Partnership for Sustainable Human Security" held in Budapest, Hungary. She also participated many activities in Malaysia such as one of the participant for international training program on "WTO and Sustainable Development" held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003; and as one of the participant for ASEAN Public Officials on "International Economics and Politics" held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2008. Ms. Isnaeni participated international program on "Higher Education and the Usage of American Corner" sponsored by the US Department of State, Washington D.C., New York, Michigan, Texas, and California in 2004. The last but not least, in 2007 she was participant for Indonesian Civil Society Forum for Climate Justise in UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP-13) held in Bali, Indonesia.

Ms. Isnaeni is involving in social and community involvement. In 1993-1995

she was the Head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of Islamic Association of (Indonesian) University Students or well known as PB-HMI, one of the oldest and the biggest youth organization in Indonesia which was established in 1947 in Yogyakarta. The organization has a vision to build, develop and strengthen the sense of nationality, intellectuality and spirituality of Indonesian Moslem Students. In 1995-1999 she was the Executive Secretary of the Central Committee of Majelis Sinergi Kalam (MASIKA), a youth division of Indonesia Moeslem Intellectuals Association (Ikatan Cendekiawan Muslim Indonesia) which actively organized cultural and intellectual dialogue on various issues of Indonesian national affairs such as Islam and democracy. In 2001-2005 she was a member of Indonesian Committee for Religion and Peace (ICRP), a national non-profit organization that aims at promoting inter-faith dialogue and strengthening social cooperation among their followers. ICRP has been affiliated with the Asian Conference on Religion and Peace which is headed and located in Japan. Special event: Committee Member of Asian Conference on Religion and Peace which was held in Yogyakarta, June 24-28, 2002; Responsible for formulating working paper on “Reconciliation for Harmonious Family-Women, Children and  Partnership”. Committee Member of National Dialogue of Religious Leaders on the 2004 General Election and Religious Community Involvement, March 31st, 2004. On July-August 2001, she was the Project Coordinator for Non-Governmental Organizations (NG) Management Training Program I & II, jointly organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Indonesia and the National Democratic Institute --US based NGO on Democratic Affairs. The last community involvement which she is still taking part until now (since March 2008) is as Advisory Board Members of British Council - Indonesia for Asian Youth Leadership on Climate Change (AYLC), a forum consisting of various professionals –business, government, university, NGOs--  established by the British Council-Indonesia to comprehensively assist the selected Indonesian young people  for climate change adjustment program. Actually, there are still many community involvement which she had got involved despite those mentioned above. The other major activity she had done was to develop the concept of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (or Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik - FISIP) Green-Campuss Society with lecturers and college students interested in the area of environmental issue in campusses.

Ms. Isnaeni also publishes and releases some articles, books, and seminar papers as well as does research works (see publication and research).
