Lahir di Ngawi (Jawa Timur) pada 5 Juli 1974, menyelesaikan S1 nya di Departemen Teknik Metalurgi FTUI pada 1997. Gelar Master of Science in Engineering diperolehnya pada 2003 di Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) serta PhD dari School of Materials Science and Engineering - Yeungnam University (Republik Korea) tahun 2007. Bidang kepakarannya adalah Lapisan Tipis dan Material Fotovoltaik (Sel Surya), serta menaruh minat pada penelitian dalam bidang Rekayasa Permukaan dan Nano Teknologi.
