Arie Afriansyah is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia. Besides teaching duties, currently, he is the Head of International Affairs Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia; Chairman, Center for International Law Studies (; Chairman, Center for Sustainable Ocean Policy (; and Chief Editor for Indonesian Journal of International Law ( In addition, Arie is the President of the Indonesian Society of International Law Lecturers (; Chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Law Journal Editors (APJHI), and Member of the Executive Council of the Asian Society of International Law ( Previously, he was the Chairman of Djokosoetono Research Center Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia; the Editor in Chief of Indonesia Law Review (, Co-Editor of Jurnal Hukum & Pembangunan (

Arie teaches several classes in the subjects related to international law both at the undergraduate and graduate level. The subjects, among others, are Public International Law, The Law of Treaties, International Environmental Law, The Law of the Sea, Diplomatic Law, and The Law on International Organisations.

Arie obtained his Bachelor in Law (Sarjana Hukum/SH) in August 2003 from the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia. In December 2006, he received the degree of Master of International Law (MIL) from the University of Sydney Law School, Australia. Finally, Arie obtained his Doctorate Degree in Law (Ph.D.) at the Faculty of Law, University of Otago, New Zealand in August 2013.
